For the past 6 days now I’ve had this horrible pain in the middle of my chest.  I can’t eat or drink anything without horrible pain.  I’ve lost 3 pounds since Friday because the pain really kicked up a notch Friday.  I headed to Urgent Care and they did an EKG and a chest x-ray to rule out heart and lungs.  Then they made me an appointment with a GI Specialist but not until March 20th.  They also told me to try Ibprofen, which I’ve now found out is something you should avoid at all costs with these issues.

Fast forward to Sunday, still no better.  I head into the ER.  They do an EKG, a chest x-ray, blood work and urine, and an ultrasound of my insides.  Everything comes back fine except I have a UTI (no idea I had that) and reflux is what they diagnosed me with, GERD to be specific.  Now, I’ve had GERD before when I was pregnant with Addison.  It was NOTHING like what I’m feeling now.

I got prescriptions for the UTI and reflux.  Insurance won’t pay for the script for the reflux and they told me at the pharmacy that it was really expensive so they called the doc and switched it to Prilosec.  I also picked up some generic Maalox and have taken that too.  I’m just praying that something works so I can at least drink something.  If I continue to have this pain and nothing helps I don’t know what I’m going to do.
