You know what makes me just swoon over my deployed husband and fall even more in love with him (if that's even possible)? Him sending me a CD of songs that he chose for me because they remind him of me or a time when we were together somewhere. LOVE IT! Music just has such a way to send a message, good or bad, and really makes you feel something. I listened to the CD he made for me in the kitchen yesterday while I was doing the dishes and making brownies. I laughed, I cried, I danced and it was great.
He also sent me a brass bookmark that he made himself with an inscription for me. I'm actually using it right now in the book I just started.
Thank you honey, I love you!

Be Mindful
I just happened to turn on the Today show this morning, normally I wouldn't it would go straight to cartoons. I saw the news that I missed last night, that Osama Bin Laden had been killed and buried at sea. I've heard they confirmed with DNA but the skeptic in me is a little suspicious. I'm not sad that the world is down one more terrorist, but there's more to it than that.
I've heard some military wives are thinking that now that he's dead, it should all be over and the troops should be on the next flight home. What they don't realize is that we are so far into this mess, we can't just leave in a moment's notice. Just because Osama Bin Laden is dead does not mean the terrorism threat died with him. Unfortunately there will be another terrorist that will step up and take his place and one after him and after him, etc. He did not work alone and the threat is not gone.
Just because he's dead, don't drop your guard. This is the time to be mindful of what is going on around you. The celebrations and rejoicing give the perfect opportunity for a terrorist to strike just as hard as they were just hit themselves.
Don't forget, we still have troops on the ground in these countries and they are the ones that will experience firsthand the fallout from what just happened. Pray for their safe return! This isn't over until ALL the troops are on U.S. soil once again.
